Basil seeds ( تخمِ ملنگا - Tukhm-e-Malanga) Botanical name: Ocimum basilicum commonly known as سبجا کے بیج ( Sabja Seeds).
Main benefits: Basil seeds are a good source of dietary fiber and plant-based nutrients and may support digestive health, fullness, and overall nutritional wellness.
Ways to consume: Soak them in water and add to drinks, lemonade, milk, smoothies, shakes, yogurt, desserts, fruit bowls, or salads. They can also be added to other foods after soaking.
Daily intake: For a food product, 1–2 teaspoons (about 5–10 g) of soaked seeds per day is a reasonable moderate serving. Start with a smaller amount if you are not accustomed to high-fiber foods and drink sufficient water.
TIP: Always soak basil seeds before consuming rather than swallowing them dry, as they expand when exposed to liquid. People taking medicines or those with specific health conditions should consult a healthcare professional before regularly using concentrated amounts of herbal products.
